Michelle K Business Development
Michelle, an Architects at TSP Inc, likes to send a sort of “Hello, it’s spring time” package out to some of her clients and contacts every April or May. I do a few of these for other architects and departments within TSP. Before I start on them though, I like to ask the person a few questions about their passions and any hobbies they have. Flowers and gardening are a pastime Michelle always enjoys. And the time outdoors is something that many people can easily connect with. Even people who don’t garden rarely dislike the idea of it. So every year, we design some sort of attractive delivery system to get people a packet of seeds along with a message from Michelle.
This package was sent out in the spring of 2021. While we talked about the spring time being an awakening from a long winter, it didn’t take a lit student to read in the parallels of it also being the end of a long year of political tumult and COVID-19 stresses. So when Michelle talked about how the extra light of spring brings new growth to nature as well as people’s spirits, the design just laid itself out to me.
Later, we sent out a Mailchimp email to her list as another little way to let them know they are on Michelle’s mind and to ask them how their seeds are growing. It also served as a way to track who opened the email, how much time they spent with it and what links they followed.
Both the physical piece and the email follow-up proved to be a successful way to extend her presence in the minds of some of her clients and contacts.
